Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

1. How does online learning work?

At the appointed time, you will connect to the virtual classroom with your username and password where you will meet your teacher for a lesson. You will also see all the other participants in your virtual classroom via a camera, you will be able to communicate with them through a microphone, and the main interface will be a whiteboard. This whiteboard allows you to write, read, listen to the audio and watch the video clips, post your projects or follow presentations and much more. Upon completion of the lesson you will receive two things - some homework (because we believe that learning a language should be constant) and the recorded lesson you have participated in (so you can remember what you did in that class). All this is available to you from the comfort of your home, without losing any time on departure and arrival to your school, at no additional cost of buying textbooks and with a lot of interaction and high-quality content.

2. What requirements do I have to meet in order to attend classes?

  • A computer with a microphone and camera
  • Fast Internet
  • Notebook and pen if you want to make personal notes (which we highly recommend)

3. How good is online learning in comparison to traditional learning?

Online learning is the same as traditional learning, only better. Virtual classrooms used in ERYIA Online Education offer all the options of real schools plus some extras, and you do not even have to leave your house to enjoy them. There are a lot of offers for online language learning nowadays, but few of them are based on the latest findings in the field of glottodidactics. A lot of language teachers on various platforms are not equipped with the skills and knowledge for high-quality teaching. If someone is a native speaker, it does not mean that they are also a good teacher. Many online schools offer software solutions for learning that have proved to be inefficient in the long run due to the frequent postponing of lessons by students and lack of interaction, which is actually the key to learning a language. That's why we decided to combine the best of traditional and online schools, take out what's not so good and get the most efficient conditions for learning foreign languages.

5. What is the best course for me?

What is the goal you want to achieve with learning a language? These tests will help you decide what course is the right one for you. If you are unsure about the course level, we strongly advise you to do an English or German language placement test on our website to get your initial results. If you still are not sure, do not hesitate to contact us with your specific situation and we will help you find the best option for you.

6. How quickly can I learn a foreign language?

Learning foreign languages is a very individual process and depends on a variety of factors, so there is no one formula that could calculate the speed of doing it. However, the most important of these factors is your motivation for learning and regular attendance of lessons, along with the completion of individual assignments. ERYIA Online Education offers courses of the highest quality that are based on scientific knowledge about teaching and learning of foreign languages (areas of cognitive linguistics and glottodidactics) so that each participant, along with high-quality courses, can receive individual advice on learning strategies in order to make learning faster and more efficient.

7. What is CEFR?

CEFR is an acronym for Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, which is a document created by the Council of Europe in cooperation with institutions such as ALTE (Association of Language Test Centers in Europe) and EAQUALS (European Association for Quality Language Services). This document contains objective descriptions of foreign language knowledge at 6 levels and aims to maintain high standards of language teaching and testing. The levels are expressed in letters and numbers, and have the following meanings
A1 - Beginner A2 - Elementary
Basic User
B1 - Intermediate B2 - Upper-intermediate
Independent User
C1 - Advanced C2 - FUll proficiency
Proficient User
Each level is described via a series of descriptors that describe the ability to use foreign language skills at a certain level. There are four language skills reading, writing, listening and speaking, and two types of language structures - grammar and vocabulary. All these skills and structures are described in the CEFR at each level of proficiency (A1 to C2). Therefore, this document provides information about the current level of proficiency and allows monitoring of one’s own progress when it comes to foreign language learners. In regard to foreign language schools, it provides guidance on the course content and skills that need to be mastered at a specific level. Also, this document allows easy comparison of foreign language skills of people in the whole of Europe (and the world) as it has been standardized by the experts and is used as a base for teaching in all high-quality facilities for foreign language teaching, such as ERYIA Online Education. Due to careful monitoring of this document and adjusting of our courses to its guidelines, diplomas issued in our school clearly display your level of proficiency in a foreign language according to the European standards. Because of this, it is possible to attach your ERYIA Online Education Language Diploma to your European Language Passport. CEFR Descriptors for foreign languages that we teach can be found below
